Carbomer Description
Carbopol 940,also called Carbomer or Carboxypoly-methylene is a generic name for synthetic high molecular weight polymers of ac.rylic acid used as thickening, dispersing, suspending and emulsifying agents in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. They may be homopolymers of acr. ylic acid, crosslinked with an all. yl ether pe. ntaerythritol, all. yl ether of sucrose or a.llyl ether of prop.ylene. Carbomers are found in the market as white and fluffy powders. They have the ability to absorb, retain water and swell to many times their original volume. Carbomers codes (910, 934, 940, 941 and 934P) are an indication of molecular weight and the specific components of the polymer .
Carbomer 940 Function and usage
1. Carbomer 940 used as scale inhibitor and dispersant in industrial water treatment.
2. Carbomer 940 can be used as an excellent suspending agent, emulsifier, transparent matrix for high-end cosmetics and pharmaceutical excipient matrix. It is also the most effective water-soluble thickener. It is also used in toothpaste as a thickener and binder.
3. Carbomer 940 Widely used in papermaking and textile, printing and dyeing, ceramics, paint and other industries.
4. Carbomer 940 Used in water treatment in chemical industry, fertilizer, printing and dyeing, power generation, etc.
